The medieval fortress that dominates the town, easily reachable by one of the many alleys that "cut" the large medieval village. Residence of the Princess Bianca Lancia, wife of Frederick II in 1246, stands on an enchanting rocky promontory overlooking the sea, bordered by the ancient walls that enclose a park of tall trees.
Its foundation dates back to the X sec. AD, the ancient central nucleus dates back to the Norman period, later it became palace to the magnificent court of Federico II and Manfredi, king of Sicily in 1258. Built almost on the sea: the "manor" dominated a vast stretch of the Tyrrhenian coast , protecting the beaches below from pirate raids.

Beyond the museums of the Marinare Fortifications and of Torture, you can't miss a pleasant walk in the town, where villas and palaces give the village the connotations of a modern town.
centro storico
Around the Castle the history of the ancient original medieval village is born and develops, we can still see the ancient garries and the walkways on the walls and you can also see the first residential nucleus of the village. Inside the tower, there are the museums of the Marinare Fortifications and of Torture.
You can't miss the boat trip to the rock (the "Scoglio"), which rises from the sea in front of the village with its beautiful seabed. Every year, on the days of the Feast of the Sea, the statue of Christ of the Abyss, placed on the seabed in the direction of the Scoglio, is made "reemergere" and hoisted on the rock, where it will remain for a few days.
Promenade Luigi Rizzo
Meeting point, especially in summer, both for pleasant walks with the Scoglio and the Aeolian Islands on the horizon, and to attend the events of the summer program, organized by the Municipal Administration.
